This study was conducted to see an effect of watching talk shows towards the students' speaking ability. The object of this research is students at SMA Negeri 3 Palopo. This study uses a Quasi-Experimental method where students are divided into experimental groups and control groups. In the experimental class, the researcher uses watching talk shows as a research instrument to help students improve their speaking skills by observing the content of the video, and giving their responses and opinions on the opinions of speakers at the talk show. From watching talk shows as a method of improving students' speaking ability, it is expected that students will be able to express their opinions well. Score of student’s pre-test in experiment class and score of student’s pre-test and post-test in control class. From the results of this study, shows asymp. Sig (2-tailed) is 0.018 which means less than 0.05, then H0 is rejected, and H1 is accepted. This means that watching talk shows can improve students' speaking ability at SMA Negeri 3 Palopo. There are significance difference between the students who taught by using talkshow and the students who are not taught by talkshow video. With the decline in students' speaking ability, it will be increasingly difficult for them to communicate, especially in using English. With their difficulty in communicating, they are unable to convey their ideas and feelings optimally due to their lack of vocabulary, and their lack of ability to pronounce sentences including vocals the sound that is emitted when pronouncing words.
