The objective of this research is to determine the effectiveness of using the Task
Based Language Teaching (TBLT) method in improving students' speaking skills.
The researcher employed a quantitative method with a pre-experimental design to
investigate whether the TBLT method has a significant impact on enhancing
students' speaking skills, focusing on vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension.
The quantitative method and pre-experimental design were applied, with the
research subjects consisting of 34 students from class X.I. Data were collected
through pre-test and post-test. The results of this research indicate that the use of
the TBLT method can improve the speaking skills and listening comprehension of
class X.I students at SMAN 11 Luwu. This is evident from the students' mean
scores in the pre-test and post-test. The mean score for students' speaking skills in
the pre-test was 59.18, which is lower than the post-test score of 77.02. It can be
concluded that the TBLT method is effective in enhancing students' speaking
skills in class X.I at SMAN 11 Luwu. In addition, sig. (2-tailed) < α (0.000 <
0.05) means that there is a significant difference between learning outcomes in
pre-test and post-test data, which means H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. This
research was focused on students vocabulary, fluency, comprehension while
speaking test students. Based on the results after giving the treatments, it can be
concluded that TBLT method was an effective in enhancing students speaking
skills at the tenth grade of SMAN 11 Luwu.
