Nirmalayanti Agus. 2023. The Effectiveness of Inquiry Learning Method in Teaching Students to Write Descriptive Text at SMP Negeri 4 Palopo (Supervised by Hafirah Patang and Reski Yusrini Islamiah)
This study aims to determine whether the inquiry learning method is effective or not in teaching students to write descriptive text. The research subjects used were class VIII students of SMPN 4 Palopo and this research used a quantitative method. Researchers used a pre-experimental design. Consists of 20 students who follow the learning process for seven meetings. The data shows that students improve their ability to know and understand writing descriptive text in English. The results of the analysis showed that there was a significant difference between the students' average scores on the pre-test and post-test. In the pre-test the average value of students is 40.50 and the post-test is 75.95. This is also seen in the results of the probability value which is smaller than α (0.00 <0.05), this indicates that the alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted, and the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. Based on the research results, the researcher can conclude that there is a significant difference between students' writing skills before and after using the Inquiry Method in Teaching Descriptive Text Writing in second grade students of SMP Negeri 4 Palopo.
