This study aims to improve students' writing skills. The subjects of this research were class VIII students of SMPN 4 Palopo and this research used a quantitative method. This research method is a quantitative method which is an experimental research. Population in the study there were 25 students of class VIII C SMPN 4 PALOPO so the sample used was 25 students who were taken using a simple random sampling technique and data collection was carried out through pre-test and post-test. Based on the data analysis results, it can be concluded that the use of the picture-and-picture learning method is very effective in teaching students writing skills. This can be seen from the results of the analysis which show that there is a significant difference between students' average scores in the pre-test and post-test. the average value of the students' pre-test is 69.56 and the average value of the students' post-test is 85.76, this can also be seen in the results of the probability value which is smaller than α (0.000 <0.05) so this shows that H1 accepted and H0 rejected. Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the picture and picture learning method is very effective in teaching students' writing skills.
