Septi Indriani. 2023. An analysis of critical reading by the English students of the fourth semester at Cokroaminoto Palopo University (Rahmawati Upa', Reski Yusrini Islamiah Yunus)
This research aims to examine analysis of critical reading by the English students of the fourth semester at Cokroaminoto Palopo University, this research is qualitative research and the type of research is descriptive research, the population in this research were fourth semester class of Cokroaminoto Palopo University which amounted 44 students, and sample is 10 students were taken using the purposive sampling technique, collecting data in this research through critical reading test. Based on the results of research and data analysis, it was concluded that the students already use critical reading, althought there are several categories in critical reading which cannot be fully understood, from Brown summary about contents of the texts (the meaning, main idea), considering context and assumptions, communicate own perspective, hypothesis or guess, then almost all students can use critical reading if their read the English text. the students can critically the text.
