This research aimed to determine the effectiveness of digital storytelling to improve students' vocabulary mastery at the second grade of SMPN 3 Palopo. The population was the entire second grade, with a total of 328 students. The sample used was a random sampling technique, with a total sample of 32 students. The method used was a quantitative method with a pre-experimental research design. The results of this research, that the mean score on the pre-test is 48.56, while on the post-test is 78.47. Then, a normality test was used to measure student scores. The results of the significant value on the pre-test were 0.03, and on the post-test were 0.10, which means the data is not normally distributed. Therefore, the researcher used a non-parametric test. As a result, the value of Asymp. Sig. (2tailed) is 0.000. Where 0.000>0.05, which means H0 is rejected and Ha is accepted. This means there is a significant difference between students’ pretest and post-test results after vocabulary treatment by using digital storytelling. By using digital storytelling, students can recognize and remember vocabulary, and are also interested in the audiovisual learning process, which helps students understand vocabulary. So, it can be concluded that the use of digital storytelling can effectively improve students' vocabulary mastery at the second grade of SMPN 3 Palopo.
