This research aims to find out the use of Make a Match technique is effective or not in teaching vocabulary at the tenth grade students of SMA Negeri 4 Palopo. The study used a quantitative method with a pre-experimental design in the form of a pre-test and post-test. The subjects were 20 tenth-grade students of SMA Negeri 4 Palopo. The instruments used were multiple-choice and matching word tests to measure students‟ vocabulary ability before and after the treatment. The data were analyzed using a t-test with the help of the SPSS program. The results showed an increase in the average score from 52.15 in the pre-test to 82.80 in the post-test. The t-test showed a significance value of 0.000 (< 0.05), which means there was a significant difference between the pre-test and post-test results. These findings indicate that using the make a match technique is effective in improving students‟ vocabulary skills. Therefore, the make a match technique can be used as an alternative for teaching vocabulary in a more interesting and contextual way.
