The objective of the study is to find out whether the use of clustering as
technique is effective used in improving vocabulary of the eleventh grade students
at SMAN 11 Luwu.
This research used quantitative method. The population of this research is
the eleventh grade students at SMAN 11 Luwu academic year 2020/2021. The
total of population is 206 students. This researcher employed cluster sampling
method because the number of population is too large. In this case the researcher
only choose eleventh class B to be respondent, it consists of 29 students. The
researcher collected the data by using written test that was divided into two kinds
of test, namely pre-test and post-test.
Based on the analysis, it is found that the mean score obtained by the
students pre-test is 0-35 classified as very poor classification and the mean score
of the post test is 96-100 classified as excellent classification. Because the mean
score of the post-test is higher than the mean score of pre-test it means that the
hypothesis states that using clustering technique is effective used in improve
vocabulary of the eleventh grade students SMAN 11 Luwu.
Based on the result of the data analysis the researcher concludes that using
clustering technique can improve the students vocabulary mastery at the eleventh
grade students of SMAN 11 Luwu.
