Penni Melinda. 2020. The Students’ Strategies in Overcoming Their Reading Comprehension Difficulties at SMAN 4 Luwu (supervised by Sri Damayanti and Rahmawati Upa’)

The aim of the research was to find out the student’s strategies in overcoming their reading comprehension difficulties at SMAN 4 Luwu. The subject of this
research was the eleventh grade students of SMAN 4 Luwu. The researcher used
purposive sampling technique in determining the research and the researcher take
the class XI.Mipa 4 as the samples. The data in the present study were collected
through questionnaire. The result of the research reveals that the student’s
strategies in overcoming their reading comprehension difficulties at SMAN 4
Luwu are cognitive strategy. The kinds of cognitive strategy used by the students
are skimming, highlighting, note taking, rereading, and translating. The second
strategy is metacognitive strategy. The kind of metacognitive strategy used by the
students is self – evaluating, and the third strategy is social strategy. The kind of
social strategy used by the students is cooperating. The data revealed that the
students use various strategies in overcoming difficulties in reading.
