Noni. 2020. The Correlation Between Grammar Mastery and Writing Skill of The Second Grade Students at SMAN 9 Luwu (supervised by Musliadi and Opik Dwi Indah).

The aim of this research is to find out the correlation between grammar mastery and writing skill of the second grade students at SMAN 9 Luwu. This
research used correlation method. The population was second grade students at
SMAN 9 Luwu. The number of population was 128 students. This research used
purposive sampling. The total sample of this research was 22 students. Then,
technique of data collections was test and non test. In analyzing the data, the
researcher applied Person‟s Product Moment Correlation by SPSS. The result of
this research shows that there is low correlation between students‟ grammar
mastery and writing skill. It is proved by the r (The person correlation value) is
0.247. The value of the correalation in the range 0.200-0.400 as categorized low
correlation based on the table of interpretation and the significant value (sig) is
0.267 because the significantly (p) is bigger than α = 0.05 (0.267 > 0.05). (0.267).
It
is considered tha the null hyphotheis ( H0) is accepted and alternative
hypothesis (h1) is rejected. So, the conclusion is there is no correlation and
significant between students‟ grammar mastery and wiritng skill.
