This thesis aims at finding out whether or not the use Comic Strip Media is effective in teaching Reading Comprehension to the Eighth Grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Noling. Comic Strip is one media in teaching Reading
Comprehension. Furthermore the learners can use comic strip to improve reading
comprehension. This research used pre-experimental research and it was
conducted in six meetings. In every meetings, the researcher gave different themes
of the stories. Pre-test and Post-test were carried out face to face both in groups
and individually. The population in this study were students of class eight grade
students at SMP Negeri 1 Noling as many as 90 students. In determining the
sample, the researcher used random sampling technique and there were 25 sample
in this study. The test instrument is a reading test. Furthermore, the data of this
research was analyzed by using SPSS program version 20. The finding of this
research shows significant diffrence between the students mean score in pre-test
and post-test. Based on the result of the analysis, it is know that the average
pretest score of D-47 students is very bad and the average post-test score of 65-74
is fairly good. Because the post-test mean score is higher than the pretest mean,
the hypothesis which states that the use of comic strip media is effective is used in
improving the reading comprehension of grade VIII C in Eighth Grade of SMP
Negeri 1 Noling.
