Marliani. 2020. Using Cooperative Learning Technique to Improve Students’Reading Comprehension at the Eighth Grade Students of SMP Datok SulaimanPalopo (supervised by Rusdiana Junaid and Arny Irhani Asmin)

This research explores the effectiveness of using cooperative learning technique in
improving students’ reading comprehension at SMP Datok Sulaiman Palopo. The
population was the eighth grade students of Datok Sulaiman Palopo. The
researcher applied cluster random sampling technique to take sample 40
population and total number of the samples was 23 students. The instrument the
research was reading test. The result of the research shows that cooperative
learning technique.is effective in enhancing the students’ knowledge about
reading in SMP Datok Sulaiman Palopo. It is supported by the significant
difference between the students’ reading skill in the pre-test and the post-test.
Score of the post-test is greater that the pre-test (39.82 < 74. 21). Thus,
Cooperative Learning technique especially (Jigssaw technique) is effective in
improving the students’ reading comprehension at the eighth grade students of
SMPDatok Sulaiman Palopo
