Hikmah Fajriani. 2021. An Analysis of Code Mixing and Code Switching Used by YouTubers on the YouTube platform. (Supervised by Hafirah Patang and Reski Yusrini Islamiah Yunus)

This research aims to find out the types and the dominant types of code
mixing and code switching used by YouTubers on the YouTube platform. This
research used Qualitative method. The subject in this research is four Indonesian
YouTubers on three YouTube channels. The instrument of this research is
documentation. The result of this research shows that (1) Related to code mixing
types form the YouTubers, there are 257 code mixing from five types. There are 134
code mixing in the form of word insertion, 66 code mixing in the form of phrase
insertion, 3 code mixing in the form of idiom insertion, 46 code mixing in the form of
hybrid insertion and 8 code mixing in the form of reduplication insertion. Meanwhile,
there are also 159 code switching in three types; 44 code switching in the form of tag
switching, 68 code switching in the form of inter-sentential switching and 47 code
switching in the form of intra-sentential switching. (2) Then, the dominant type of
code mixing is code mixing in the form of word insertion and the dominant type of
code switching is code switching in the form of inter-sentential swithing.
