The objective of the research is to know whether using the total physical response (TPR) method improve students' vocabulary mastery at the seventh grade of
SMPN 1 Baebunta. This research was conducted in seventh grade SMP Negeri 1
Baebunta in academic year 2020/2021, the method used in this study was a pre
experimental method with one group with a sample of 15 students from grade 7. Data
were analyzed using SPSS version 20. The results showed that the results of the
students' pre-test with a mean score of 29.87 then on the post-test with a mean score
of 87.07. the post-test results are greater than the pre-test results after treatment on
students. By comparing the T-test results and the P-Value results where the T-test
results are lower than the P-Value results (0.00 <0.05), it means that H0 is rejected
and H1 is accepted. It can be concluded that the students' vocabulary mastery abilities
increased after being treated using the total physical response method for 4 meetings
for 7th grade students at SMPN 1 Baebunta.
