he thesis entitled "analysis of students' difficulties in translating from
English into Indonesian at SMAN 1 Luwu discusses the difficulties faced by class
II students in translating English sentences into Indonesian, and the factors that
cause students to have difficulty translating these sentences. This study examines
difficulty of students focusing on linguistic factors, namely vocabulary and
idiomatic, and this research was carried out at SMAN 1 Luwu school, the research
instrument used was test and interview then the data was analyzed using
qualitative methods.The population of this research is the second grade students of
SMAN 1 Luwu, the number of samples is 10 students, the researcher uses random
sampling technique.The results of the interview showed that 8 out of 10 students
interviewed had difficulty translating because of their lack of vocabulary mastery
and often found words or sentences that were difficult for them to
understand.from the results of the analysis it was concluded that the difficulties of
second graders at SMAN 1 Luwu in linguistic factors were vocabulary and
idioms.This is also because students admitted that when interviewed they were
rarely given the task of translating and they relied more on dictionaries from the
internet to make it easier for them when translating as a result students were
accustomed and less motivated to improve their vocabulary mastery and also their
understanding of terms. in English like an idiom
