In bilingualism, Code mixing usually occur in a communication both in
written or oral form. Therefore, this phenomenon become a trand or style for most
online shop sellers on social media. There are 3 objective of the research, they are
: (1) To find out the types of code mixing often used by online shop sellers on
facebook and instagram, (2) To find out level of code mixing often used by online
shop sellers on facebook and instagram, and (3) To find out the reason of online
shop seller use code mixing in offering products on facebook and instagram. This
research used descriptive qualitative method and then analyze the data by using
descriptive analysis method. The results showed that the types of code mixing
which most often used by online shop sellers is the outer code mixing. The level
of code mixing which most often used by online shop sellers is the word level.
Moreover, the researcher analyzed the reason of using code mixing in facebook
and instagram are : (1) Atitudinal type, which caused by (a) need for synonym, (b)
social value), and (c) development and introducing with a new culture. (2)
Linguistic type, which caused by (a) Low frequency of word, (b) pernicious
homonymy, (c) oversight, and (d) end (purpose and goal).
