The main objective of this research was to find out whether or not using of English videos effective to improve the students’ vocabulary mastery of eleventh
grade students at SMAN 1 Palopo. This research used an experimental design. The
population of this research was the eleventh-grade students at SMAN 1 Palopo, which
consisted of 352 students. The sample of this research was 32 students taken by
cluster sampling technique. The researcher used the pre-test and post-test samples as
this research procedure.
Based on the research findings, the result showed that using the English
videos method effectively improved students‟ vocabulary. The mean score proved it
before and after treatment (45.27 became 76.11) which means 33.83% improved with
the paired samples test output. It turns out that the probability is 0.000 < 0.05, then
H0 is rejected, meaning that there is a difference in the average value of the Pre Test
and Post Test. Based on the result above, it can be concluded that the Null Hypothesis
(H0) was rejected, whereas the Alternative Hypothesis (H1) was accepted. In other
words, using English videos effectively improves vocabulary mastery for eleventh
grade students of SMAN 1 Palopo.
