The purpose of this study was to determine the teaching of vocabulary
using flashcards, to increase the vocabulary of students in the second grade of
SMPN I Rongkong. This study uses a pre-experimental method. The population in
this study were second grade students of SMPN I Rongkong Academic Year
2020. The number of samples is 20 students. Researchers used random sampling
in determining the sample. To get the results of data analysis, researchers used
SPSS version 20. Researchers entered pre-test and post-test data using SPSS
version 20. Based on data analysis, it is known that teaching Vocabulary by using
flashcards is one method to increase students' vocabulary. This is supported by the
achievement of an average pre-test score of 38.80 and an average post-test score
of 83.25. This means that students have a good understanding in learning
vocabulary by using flashcards. So, it is concluded that teaching vocabulary by
using flashcards can increase students' vocabulary.
