Abstract

Sri Putri Handayani. 2024. Improving Students’ Reading Comprehension of Narrative Text Using Digital Storytelling at 10th Grade of SMAN 1 Tolala (supervised by Sri Damayanti and Rahmawati Upa’)
This research aims to find out whether or not the improve of reading comprehension skills in narrative texts of 10th grade of SMAN 1 Tolala by using digital story media. The population of this study is all class X students of SMAN 1 Tolala, which were 38 students. This research used purposive sampling as a sampling technique and took 15 students from MIPA 1. The researcher used a reading test instrument with quantitative method and pre-experimental design. Data collection was carried out by conducting a pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The results of this research indicate that the use of digital storytelling can improve reading comprehension skills of narrative texts. This can be seen from the average scores of students on the pre-test and post-test. The average score of students on the pre-test was 44.67 lower than the average score of students on the post-test which was 77.33. In addition, the sig value (2-tailed) ˂ α (0.000 ˂ 0.05) which means that there is a significant difference between learning outcomes in the pre-test and post- test data. Therefore, H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. It can be concluded that the use of digital storytelling is effective in improving students’ reading comprehension skills of narrative texts at 10th grade MIPA 1 SMAN 1 Tolala
