The purpose of this study was to find out whether online-based learning affects student attitudes and behavior in learning, students responses to online
based learning during the Covid-19 pandemic in seventh-semester students at
Cokroaminoto Palopo University. The method used is through an online
questionnaire (open-ended questionnaire) to 18 student respondents and 2
lecturers of the English education study program who teach in the seventh
semester class. Data were analyzed using qualitative descriptions. The results of
this study indicate that the application of an online learning system during the
Covid-19 pandemic affects students’ attitudes and behavior in participating in the
learning process, which is caused by direct interaction beetwen lecturers and
students because they are limited by space and time so they cannot monitor and
integrate student activities optimally. The application of learning with an online
based system makes students have the freedom to carry out all activities in
receiving online learning, where this freedom makes some students act impolite.
In contrast to face-to-face learning (offline) where the lecturer can supervise and
integrate every activity carried out by students in class, students do not have the
freedom to carry out other activities or activities with out the knowladge of the
lecturers.
