The purposes of the study were to find out the students’ responses toward the application
of webtoon in fostering students' reading interest and to determine whether the use of
webtoon can increase students' reading interest. This study used quantitative method. The
researcher applied pre-experimental with pretest, treatment, and posttest design. Based on
those data, the researcher concluded that the use of webtoon in teaching reading can foster
the students’ reading interest. For the students’ responses, it can be seen on data that the
students gave positive responses toward the use of webtoon in teaching reading. The results
of the analysis showed that there was a significant different between the mean value of the
pre-test (50.33) and the post-test (73.67). In addition, it can also be seen by comparing the
results of the t-test where (p-value) is smaller than the significant level (α) (0.000<0.05).
Thus, H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted.
