Widya Azisa. 2024. The Application of Student Teams Achievement Division (STAD) in Teaching Short Story to Enhance Students Reading Skills at Eight Grade of SMP Negeri 1 Baebunta (Rizal A.M Sjachrun and Reski Yusrini Islamiah).
This study aims to enhance the students’ reading skills at the Eighth grade of SMP Negeri 1 Baebunta through the use of the Student Teams Achievement Division method. The population in this study were students of class VIII-A of SMP Negeri 1 Baebunta with the total population in this study being 31 students. The researcher used a quantitative method with a pre-experiment research design. The data was collected by conducting a pre-test, treatment, and post-test. It can be seen from the students' mean scores in the pre-test and post-test. The mean score of students in the pre-test was 50.79 which was lower than the mean score of students in the post-test which was 75.32. In addition, the sig (2-tailed) value ˂ α (0.000 ˂ 0.05) means that there is a significant difference between the learning outcomes in the pre-test and post-test data. Therefore, H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. It can be concluded that the use of the Student Teams Achievement Division method can enhance the students’ reading comprehension at the Eight of SMP Negeri 1 Baebunta
