This research aims to determine the effectiveness of using audio-visual
media in teaching students' speaking skill in the tenth grade of SMAN 6 Palopo.
The method used in this study is a quantitative method. The instrument used is an
oral test. Data collection used pre-test, treatment, and post-test. The data gathered
from pre-test and post-test was analized through SPSS application version 25, the
result of the research shows that the use of audio-visual media in teaching
speaking is effective. This can be proven by the mean score of post-test is 83.08
students, which is higher than the pre-test score of 47.44. It means that there is a
significant differences between pre-test and post-test after giving treatment.
