The main objective of this research is to find out what are the students
difficulties in learning English using WhatsApp for eighth graders at SMPN 1
Lamasi.This research method is a qualitative descriptive method, The instrument
of this research was interview.The subject of this research is the eighth grade
students at SMPN 1 Lamasi. The results of the study found that, the difficulties
faced by students were first, due to unstable internet connections. Second, running
out of internet quota, due to limitations the cost of buying quotas and excessive
use of quotas, Third, because learning from home which requires them to study
alone makes them confused in finding difficult information and material on the
internet which requires them to study alone, Fourth, the difficulty of understanding
the material without a direct explanation, Based on the results of the research, the
researchers can conclude that the existence of several difficulties in the process of
learning English using WhatsApp for eighth grade students at SMPN 1 Lamasi.
