The researcher applied descriptive qualitative method for this research, the objective of the research is to find out the teacher's difficulties in vocabulary
during the Covid-19 pandemic. The subject of this research was the English
teachers of SMPN 4 Palopo. There are 3 English teachers who teach different
classes. Data collection was carried out through guided-interview which consists
of 14 questions. Data analysis techniques used were data collection, data
reduction, data display, conclusion and verification. The result shows that in
conducting teaching and learning process during Covid-19 pandemic, there are 4
difficulties faced by the English teacher in teaching vocabulary during Covid-19
pandemic at SMPN 4 Palopo. They are : (1) limited supporting facilities, such as
cellphones and internet quota, (2) poor internet network connection, (3) students
were lack of participation in attending the class and submitting their assignments,
and the last is (4) difficult in supervising the students when learning. After
completing this research, the researcher offers suggestion, teachers have to make
sure the learning components are adequate to make sure the learning process goes
well.
