The purpose of the study was "To determine the effectiveness of the Numbered
Head Together (NHT) strategy in learning Simple Present Tense for Class VIII
students. The researcher applied the pre-experimental design method in one group
pre-test and post-test design. Then, the tests were calculated and analyzed using
SPSS 20. Based on the findings and discussion of the research, this study shows
that the use of the numbered head together strategy is effective in teaching the
simple present tense to class VIII students. This is evidenced by the results of the
data showing that there is a significant difference between the pre-test and post
test. The average score on the pre-test was 30.40 and the average score on the
post-test was 69.20. Therefor p-value < α (.000 < 0.05) it proves that null
hypothesis (H0) is reject and alternative hypothesis (H1) is accept. Therefor
Numbered Head Together Strategy effective in teaching the simple present tense
to class VIII students at SMP Negeri 3 Baebunta
