This study discusses the use of English short story during classroom learning,
so that students can get used to reading in English. The purpose of this research is
to find out whether by using short story in English during learning, students can
find out the vocabulary contained in short story in English. This type of research
is descriptive quantitative research. The populations in this study were students of
class VII 4 SMPN 8 Palopo. For the data collection instrument, a vocabulary test
was used. The results of this study indicate that the use of English short stories
during learning is effective in improve students' vocabulary.
