This study aims to examine the improvement of students' vocabulary mastery at eighth grade of SMPN 6 Palopo through song lyrics. This research is
quantitative research and the type of research is experimental research. The
population in this study was class VIIIC session 1 of SMPN 6 Palopo which consist
11 students, and sample is 11 students were taken using the cluster random sampling
technique. Collecting data in this study through Pre-Test and Post-Test. Based on
the results of research and data analysis, it was concluded that the use of song lyrics
can improve the vocabulary mastery class VIIIC session 1 of SMPN 6 Palopo. This
is indicated by the value of the t-test that has been carried out after the treatment
has obtained a significance of 0,00 which means it is smaller than 0,05 (0,00<0,05)
and based on the results of the t-test calculation, it is obtained that the value of t
count > t-table (7,286>2,228). In improving English vocabulary mastery in class
VIIIC session 1 of SMPN 6 Palopo after using the Song Lyrics method is at high
level criteria, it can be concluded that the Song Lyrics Method can improve the of
English vocabulary mastery in class VIIIC session 1 SMPN 6 Palopo or it can be
said that Ho is rejected and Ha is accepted.
