Abstract
Helmi Alfriansi Salua. 2024. The Novel Reading Habits on Students Learning Outcomes in English Education Study Program at Cokroaminoto Palopo University. (Supervised by Sri Damayanti. and Andi Mangnguntungi S).
This study aims to know the influence of novel reading habits on the learning outcomes of students in the English Education Study Program at Cokroaminoto Palopo University. Initial observations revealed that students' ability to read English novels is still relatively low. Many students show a lack of interest and motivation in reading novels, which negatively impacts their learning outcomes. Reading novels is believed to help improve language skills, enrich vocabulary, and enhance critical and analytical thinking abilities. This research uses a descriptive method with a quantitative approach. Data were obtained through questionnaires distributed to 20 randomly selected students. Of the 20 students sampled, 3 students (15%) were in the "Very High" category, 9 students (45%) were in the "High" category, 6 students (30%) were in the "Medium" category, and 2 students (10%) were in the "Low" category. The results of the study showed a positive influence between the habit of reading novels and improving student learning outcomes.
