This research discussed the students’ perception toward the use of virtual learning during the COVID-19 pandemic in teaching listening. In line with the
research problem, the researcher used an online questionnaire (open-ended
question) given to the second-grade Computer and Network Engineering students
of SMKN 4 Luwu. There were 70 students. The researcher used simple random sampling in determining the sample. The researcher chose 20 students of Computer and Network Engineering 1. The researcher concluded the perceptions
into four indicators. The first is cognitive, In any case, some students understood the teacher's material. A virtual learning strategy meant this did not always
happen. Inappropriately applied and even uninspiring for the samples. The second indicator is affective. Indirectly, English study requires students to engage, which
improves their listening abilities, and most samples agreed that virtual listening
was challenging and unmotivating. Virtual classes cannot be of interest to students
who are virtual. Another major problem with virtual learning is that conventional classroom socialisation has caused many of them to not like the type of lesson they are studying. Psychomotor is the third indicator. The applications enable
them to virtually listen to sample answers. The Whatsapp group with the most examples said the application helped them study and improve their listening skills
since they could replay content and teacher explanations. An additional is a closed indicator. Most responses, that is, the quality of the content they receive, is lower
than when they study in a traditional setting at school. Virtual learning can be recorded, archived, and shared for future reference. Thus, virtual learning offers
students the accessibility of time and place in education.
