The aim of this research is to find out the effectiveness of comics in improving at MA As’adiyah Pengkendekan. The population of this research 66
students, but the writer only took 20 students of X at MA As’adiyah
Pengkendekan to be sampled. The instrument of this research was reading test.
The research method was experimental, research that consist of pretest, treatment,
and posttest. The mean score of students in the pre-test is 28.00 lower than the
mean score of students in the post-test 84.50. the writer found that the result of
sig.(2-tailed) is 0.000 while the t-test is -14.456. Besides that, the probability is
0.000,< 0.05 (sig < α), which shows that the significance (p-value) is smaller than
the significant level (0.05) then the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected, and the
alternative hypothesis is accepted. It means the teaching reading at MA
AS’Adiyah Pengkendekan is effective after learning descriptive text by using the
comics media. It concludes that the using comics can improve students’ reading
comprehension at MA AS’Adiyah Pengkendekan.
