Eva Artika. 2022. Using the Effectiveness of Guessing Game to Improve Students‟ Speaking Competence in MTs Al-Falah Lemahabang (supervised by Hafirah Patang and Paldy).

This research aims to find out the effectiveness of guessing game to
improve students speaking competence in MTs Al-Falah Lemahabang. This
research was conducted at MTs Al-Falah Lemahabang. It was pre-experimental
research with pre-test, treatment, and post-test design. The total number of
population was 40 students from VIII B class in MTs Al-Falah Lemahabang. This
research used random sampling technique where the researcher took 15 students
as the research sample. In this research the writer used observation, voice
recorder, and speaking test as the research instruments. The result of research
shows that guessing game method is an effective method to improve students‟
speaking competence in English. It can be seen from the students‟ score in pre
test, where the mean values in pre-test was 48.2 and the post-test was 78.4. It can
also be seen by comparing the results of the t-test where t value smaller than the
significant level (α) (0.000<0.05). Thus,
