The objective of the research is to find out the problems faced by the
teachers in teaching English via online at SMP Datok Sulaiman Palopo. The
population of this research is two english teachers of SMP Datok Sulaiman Palopo
at academic year 2021/2022. The researcher used total sampling technique in
determining the sample. The instrument of the research was interview. The data
collected from interview was analyzed qualitatively by using the theory assumed
by Mile Huberman (2014). The researcher concludes that in online learning, there
are several cases that teachers encountered in teaching online. They are, (1) the
teachers had to provide more apportunities and time for students in attending
lessons and collecting assignment because not all the students have good network
in carrying out the online lessons, (2) students did not enjoy the lesson, and it
made the teacher felt difficult in teaching, and (3) teacher could not control the
students' competence maximally in online learning.
