This study aims to determine whether this flashcard media affects the vocabulary mastery of class VII students at SMP Negeri 1 Palopo. The sample in
this study was class VII B as the experimental class and class VII D as the control
class. The method used in this research is quasi-experimental, with the instrument
used in obtaining the data being a test. The writer found that there was a significant
difference in the post-test scores between the experimental class and the control
class students. This is evidenced by the post-test average value of the experimental
class, which is higher than the post-test of the control class. In the experimental
class, the mean pre-test score was 63 and the mean post-test score was 84. While in
the control class, the pre-test mean score was 60 and the post-test mean was 67.45.
The significance level of the test (2-tailed) is 0.000, which is lower than the
significance level of 0.05. This shows that the application of flashcards in learning
has a better effect. Thus, the writer concludes that the use of flashcards has an effect
on the vocabulary mastery of the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 1 Palopo.
