Brainstorming Strategy at SMA Negeri 8 Luwu ( supervised by Rizal A.M.
Sjacrun and Andi Mangnguntungi Sudirman).
The objective of this research was to find the effectiveness of
brainstorming in teaching writing ability of descriptive textat SMA Negeri 8
Luwu. The researcher applied pre-experimental design. The population of this
research was the eight grade students of SMA Negeri 8 Luwu. The total number
of the population was 225 students. In determining the sample, the researcher used
cluster sampling technique and the research took 20 students as sample. The
instrument of of thid research were writing test. The result of the research showed
that the use brainstorming strategy is effective in teaching writing ability. It is
proven that the mean score of pre-test is 49,65 and the mean score of the post-test
is 65.25. the standar deviation of pre-testis 11.348 and the standard deviation of
post-test is 12.143. while t-test =0,000, (α)=0,05 . it means that t-test is smaller
that (α), so there is a significant defferent between pre-test and post-test of
students writing ability before and after the researcher gave the treatment. It is
shoewed that the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected, while alternative hypothesis (H1)
is accepted. Therefore, it can be concluded that brainstorming strategy is effective
in teaching writing ability.
