Herdiansyah.2023.The Use of Information Gap Technique to Improve the Students‟ Speaking Ability (supervised by Andi Mangnguntungi Sudirman and Tsamratul‟aeni).
The research aimed to find out the Effectiveness of the Use Information Gap Technique in Improving the Students‟ Speaking Ability at the Tenth Grade of SMA Negeri 6 Palopo. The population of this research was 198 students. The sample of this research was 24 students. The researcher applied pre-experimental design. The instrument of the research was speaking test. The research was conducted in Mei 2023 at SMA Negeri 6 Palopo. Based on the data analysis used wilcoxon test, showed that negative ranks of N, Mean rank, and Sum of Ranks was 0, it means that there was no decrease (reduction) from pre-test and post-test. Meanwhile, in Positive ranks of N are 24, it means that there were 24 students who had exprienced an increase.Whereas in Mean rank was 12.50 and Sum of Ranks was 300.00. The value of Ties was 0, it could be said that there was no the same value between pre-test and post-test. In addition, based on statistics test, it was supported that the Asymp.Sig (2.tailed) or p-value is 0.000 is lower than significance level (�) 0.05. It means that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. The research also found that using information gap technique can motivate students to be more active in learning process, it was because the students were given the freedom to seek information or exchange information each other. Beside that, the students enjoy and enthusiastic in the learning process, so that the students did not presured and bored. It could be conclude that the use of information gap technique is effective in improving the students‟ speaking ability.
