The objective of the research is to find out the effectiveness of crossword puzzle game in teaching vocabulary. The population of this research are the seventh grade students of SMPN 4 Bajo in the academic year 2022/2023. The researcher used simple random sampling with 20 samples. This research used a pre-experimental design with a single group pre-test and post-test. Then the researcher analyzed the data by using SPSS version 25. The result of this research was the significance of the data on the pre-test scores and post-test scores has increased. Furthermore, the researcher found that α (0.05) was higher than p-value (0.00). it means that the null hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (HI) was accepted. It means that there is significance difference between the result of pre-test and post-test after the treatment by using a crossword puzzle game in teaching vocabulary. So, it can be concluded that the use crossword puzzle game effective in teaching vocabulary to seventh grade students of SMPN 4 Bajo. It can be seen from the students' vocabulary skills after doing the treatment, students easily remember the vocabulary given, and students are also more active in class when using the crossword puzzle game method.
