Ureanti. 2026. The Effectiveness of the WordWall Game as a Learning Tool for
Improving Students‟ English Vocabulary at SMPN 3 Palopo (Supervisor I: Paldy
and Supervisor II: Sri Rahayu).
This study addresses the low English vocabulary mastery among seventh
grade students at SMPN 3 Palopo due to conventional, non-technological learning
methods. It aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the WordWall application in
improving students' mastery of nouns. Utilizing a quantitative pre-experimental
design with a sample of 20 students, data were collected through pre-test and post
test instruments after four intervention sessions using various WordWall game
templates. The data analysis, using the non-parametric Wilcoxon test via SPSS 26,
showed a sharp increase in average scores from 46.50 to 87.50, with a
significance value of 0.000 (alpha = 0.05). Thus, the null hypothesis (H0) is
rejected and the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, which empirically proves
that the use of the WordWall medium has a significant effect on improving
students‟ vocabulary learning outcomes. In addition to improving academic
scores, the use of WordWall also succeeded in creating a pleasant classroom
atmosphere, increasing motivation, and encouraging active student participation
during the learning process.
