This study aimed to investigate the use of Google Voice Assistant in
teaching students' pronunciation at the eleventh grade of SMA Negeri 6 Palopo and
to explore students' perceptions of its use in learning pronunciation. An Explanatory
Sequential mixed-method design was employed involving 19 students of class XI
Adamsmith selected through Cluster Random Sampling. Quantitative data were
collected through pre-tests and post-tests, whereas qualitative data were obtained
through open-ended written questions. The quantitative data were analyzed using
descriptive statistics, the Shapiro–Wilk normality test, and the Paired Sample t-Test,
while the qualitative data were analyzed through thematic analysis. The results
indicated that the mean score increased from 50.74 in the pre-test to 73.47 in the
post-test. In addition, the significance value of the Paired Sample t-Test was 0.000,
which was lower than 0.05. Consequently, H₁ was accepted and H₀ was rejected,
indicating that the use of Google Voice Assistant in teaching students' pronunciation
had a significant effect on students' pronunciation achievement. Furthermore, the
written responses revealed that students perceived the application positively
because it was easy to use, increased their motivation, supported pronunciation
practice, and enhanced their confidence in speaking English. Therefore, Google
Voice Assistant can be considered an effective tool for teaching students'
pronunciation.
