This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of using Interactive Podcasts in
improving the vocabulary competence of Grade X students at SMAN 6 Palopo.
This research employed a quantitative method with a pre-experimental design
using a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The population of this study
consisted of all Grade X students of SMAN 6 Palopo. The sample consisted of 30
students from Class X Diponegoro, which was selected through simple random
sampling using a spin system, where each Grade X class was given an equal
opportunity to be selected. The research instrument was a vocabulary test
consisting of 30 multiple-choice questions administered as a pre-test and post-test.
The treatment was conducted in six meetings using Interactive Podcasts supported
by transcripts, vocabulary activities, comprehension questions, quizzes, and
follow-up exercises. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, the
Shapiro-Wilk normality test, and the Paired Sample t-Test through IBM SPSS
Statistics Version 25. The results showed that the students' mean score increased
from 48.43 in the pre-test to 74.27 in the post-test, representing an improvement
of 25.84 points. The Shapiro-Wilk test showed that the pre-test and post-test data
were normally distributed, with significance values of 0.465 and 0.315,
respectively. Furthermore, the Paired Sample t-Test showed a significance value
of 0.000, which was lower than 0.05. Therefore, the null hypothesis was rejected
and the alternative hypothesis was accepted. These findings indicate that the use
of Interactive Podcasts was effective and had a statistically significant effect on
improving the vocabulary competence of Grade X students at SMAN 6 Palopo
