Nelpa Langsa, 2026. The Use of The Let’s Read Application to Improve Reading
Comprehension of Eighth Grade Students’ at SMP Negeri 12 Palopo, with

This researcher aim to determaine the use of the let’s read application to
improve the reading comprehension of eighth grade students’at Smp Negeri 12
palopo. The researcher applied a quantitative method with a Pre-experimental
desing. The population of this study was all eight grade students of SMP Negeri 12
Palopo in the 2025/2026 academic year, while the sample consisted of 21 students
selected through simple random sampling. The instrument used was a reading
comprehension test in the form of multiple choice questions, given twice as a pre
test and post-test. The treatment was conducted in four meetings using stories from
Narrative text section of Let’s Read Application. The data were analyzed using IBM
SPPS Statistics 25. The results of the Shapiro Wilk test showed that the Asymp.
Sig. (2-tailed) value was 0.000, which is smaller than 0.05, idicating that there was
a significant difference between students’ pre-test and post-test scores. The mean
score increased 38.65 in the pre-test to 62.95 in the post-test, showing an
improvement in students reading comprehension after the treatment. Therefore, it
can be concluded that the use of Let’s Read Application improved the reading
comprehension of eighth grade students at SMP Negeri 12 Palopo.
