The objective of this research was to find out whether the use of realia is
effective in increasing students’ vocabulary mastery at SDN 50 Bulu Datu. This
research applied a pre-experimental method with one group pre-test and post-test
design. The population of this research was the students of SDN 50 Bulu Datu in
the academic year 2025/2026, and the sample consisted of 22 students selected
through simple random sampling. The instrument used in this research was a
multiple-choice test consisting of 10 items. The results of the research showed
that the students’ vocabulary mastery improved after the treatment. It was
indicated by the increase of the mean score from 34.09 in the pre-test to 63.64 in
the post-test. Furthermore, the result of the Wilcoxon test showed that the
significance value was 0.000, which is lower than 0.05. It means that the null
hypothesis (H0) was rejected and the alternative hypothesis (H1) was accepted.
Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of realia has a significant effect in
increasing students’ vocabulary mastery. In conclusion, the use of realia is
effective in improving students’ vocabulary mastery because it provides concrete
learning experiences that help students understand and remember vocabulary
more easily.
