The objective of this research was to determine the effectiveness of using YouTube videos in improving the vocabulary understanding mastery of eighth
grade students at MTs Muhammadiyah Sidobinangun. The researcher employed a quantitative method with a pre-experimental design, specifically the One-Group
Pretest-Posttest Design. The research subjects consisted of 26 students from class VIII A as the sample. Data were collected through a vocabulary test consisting of
20 multiple-choice questions administered as a pre-test and post-test. The results of this research indicate that the use of YouTube videos significantly improves the
vocabulary understanding of eighth-grade students at MTs Muhammadiyah Sidobinangun. This is evident from the students' mean scores, where the pre-test
score of 56.35 increased significantly to 78.65 in the post-test. Furthermore, because the data was not normally distributed (Sig. < 0.05), a non-parametric
analysis was conducted. The Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test results showed an Asymp. Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000, which is lower than the alpha level (0.000 <
0.05). This led to the rejection of the null hypothesis H0 and the acceptance of the alternative hypothesis Ha. Based on these results, it can be concluded that YouTube is an effective learning media to enhance students' vocabulary
understanding at the eighth grade of MTs Muhammadiyah Sidobinangun.
