Abstract

Nur Safitri. 2020. An Analysis of Students’ Difficulties In Comprehending Reading Text at SMA Negeri 6 Palopo (supervised by Sri Damayanti and Fibri Indira Lisanty AD) This research aims to find out students’ difficulties in comprehending reading text at SMAN 6 Palopo. This research applied the method that was used in descriptive quantitative research. The population of this research was class XII and the sample was class XII IIS 2 consisted of 27 students. This research used an instrument to collect the data namely multiple choices test. The results of the research show that there are 65% of students who have difficulties in determining the main idea of the text. Then, there are 69% of students who have difficulties in specific information of the text. Then, there are 68% of students who have difficulties in making inference of the text. Next, there are 72% of students who have the most difficulties in understanding the meaning of a word in the text. Difficulties in reading comprehension are generated by various factors, namely: difficulty in long sentences in the text, difficulty understanding vocabulary, lack of vocabulary.
